Understanding the sport
What do the classifications mean?
Paralympic classifications group athletes by the nature and degree of their impairment so competition is fair. Every classification number you see next to an athlete's name tells you which category they compete in internationally.
Why it matters for donors
Each classification requires a separate medical assessment by a certified Paralympic classifier. These assessments are expensive, time-consuming, and must be renewed. Your donation helps cover these essential costs so athletes can compete legally on the world stage.
